Project's objective

The objective of this project is to comprehensively investigate and illustrate the data management LifeCycle of the decommissioned Volve Oil field in Norway. Our goal is to gain a profound understanding of each phase in the field's history, ascertain the available data, develop methods for data retrieval, and assess the data's suitability for various applications. This endeavor primarily entailed reconstructing the Volve field's historical timeline from raw data utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) tools and creating an ArcGIS StoryMap.

The project encompassed a range of tasks, including:

  • Collecting Exploration and Production (E&P) data, such as seismic and geological data, well exploration, development, and production data, as well as blocks and licensing data.
  • Conducting bibliographical research to delve into the historical context of the Volve field.
  • Processing and visualizing data using software tools like QGIS and ArcGIS Pro to create informative visual representations.
  • Managing data effectively with the assistance of Petrel software, including tasks related to data organization, 3D seismic interpretations, visualization, constructing and visualizing reservoir models, and conducting simulations.
  • Creating maps and Story Map through the utilization of ArcGIS Online.
